When can you travel to Southeast Asia? Updated September 1st, 2021
Southeast Asia Travel Reopening Updates: September 1st, 2021
Covid-19 Current Conditions: Due to a rigorous system of identifying, testing, tracing and isolation, the destinations we currently offer in Southeast Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos) have been among the best nations on the planet in controlling the pandemic, which was first detected in the region in January. There has been an increase in new cases over the last few months, but the per capita numbers are still a fraction of what the west has experienced and authorities have reimposed stringent controls to quell the threat. Southeast Asia nations are aggressively trying to vaccinate their populations but are limited by availability, although recent humanitarian efforts by the world’s affluent nations and humanitarian groups have resulted in significant upticks in the process.
When will Southeast Asia reopen for tourism?
Based on conversations with Southeast Asia’s tourism authorities and what they have publicly declared, our offices in Southeast Asia believe that almost all their borders should open for vaccinated tourists by the end of 2021, although Thailand has already started reopening for their popular island and beach destinations, but there are extremely onerous requirements for such travel. We feel that there is a chance that Vietnam may delay their opening until the start of 2022. We do not recommend planning travel for dates before mid-December 2021.
What requirements will there be for incoming tourists?
It is Easy Tours’ opinion that general tourism in Southeast Asia will initially require proof of credible vaccine inoculations from travelers. Some nations may also require some level of testing before and/or at arrival.
Luxury Tours and Vacation availability and cancellation options.
Easy Tours is offering private luxury tours and escorted vacations to our Southeast Asia destinations from December 15th, 2021 with flexible terms as outlined below, although earlier dates can be tentatively booked for those interested in doing so. Easy Tours will not operate our Small Group Tours until at least spring 2022 as we currently are not comfortable facilitating travel for guests who are not from the same household or family/friends circle.
Cancellation options related to Covid-19.
Cancellations due to freshly imposed entry or other significant travel restrictions by any of the Southeast Asian Governments: If Easy Tours is forced to cancel your tour or vacation due to entry restrictions imposed by any of the Southeast Asian governments, Easy Tours will inform our guests within 2 business days of our in-country offices becoming aware of this fact, and all guest payments will be credited towards future Southeast Asia travel with Easy Tours. Please note that this does not apply to international flight costs, the contract for which exists solely between the guest(s) and the airline.
Guest Decision to Cancel Travel: For travel ending by February 28th, 2022, if a guest decides that they are not comfortable in traveling to Southeast Asia for any reason, including the virus, they will have the option to have their payments credited for Southeast Asia travel to the same destinations before December 20th, 2023 as long as 45 days remain before their tour start date. If less than 45 days remain, or if any of your travel dates are after February 2022, our standard cancellation costs will apply, and refunds, if any are applicable, will be processed according to our standard terms and conditions. Along with our luxury hotel partners, we expect tourism to boom from early 2022 onward due to pent-up demand.
